Brisbane’s Isles Lane Bar and Kitchen will shine a new light on fine casual inner city dining, with the micro-pub set to take over the expansive haunts on 300 Queen Street in mid-April. The Post Office Square restaurant is expected to bridge the gap between local meetings, after work drinks, and seven day extended dining.Co-owners Trent Meade and Matt Blyth of Celissa are the current team behind prominent Fortitude Valley hotspots, The Met and GPO Hotel.

“We’ve combined the classic big city eating houses, from New York to Barcelona,” said Trent. “[We] added our own modern Australian twist. This is Brisbane’s new meeting place – a destination combining work, play, and celebration.”

Like the neighbouring park, Isles Lane draws natural light and greenery inwards to create an open, modern and verdant space, suited to house up to 400 guests.

The bar will stock the city’s most interesting Rieslings, Rosés, Proseccos and Champagnes, along with well-known beers.

In the kitchen, the pans will be commanded by Head Chef Lucie Woods who brings modern, gastropub vibes to the table in plates designed to share. With 22 year’s industry experience she has a passion for fresh, locally sourced produce, and has crafted menus featuring appearances from the garden, pasture, sea and river.

Dishes will include halloumi chips, spicy fried school prawns with burnt lemon aioli, and chilli and lime popcorn. Striking main courses will include spicy barbecue beer can chicken, a signature lobster roll, and whole suckling pig.

Colourful local produce draws the spotlight and transforms casual meetings. After sunset, Brisbane’s nightlife will replace the corporate crowd.

Isles Lane’s kitchen and bar will open until late seven days a week. Plans are also in place for events to enter the park space, with the owners hoping to draw families and social groups to a new community platform.
